The first day of our cross country road trip started out at the Meteor Crater in Arizona. Heath studied it in First Grade so of course we had to stop there and it did not disappoint him. We remembered quite a bit of the facts and learned some more along the way. 

The next stop was at the Grand Canyon. It took quite a while for Ashlyn to believe that it was real. 

The kids were able to up close and personal with squirrels, elk, and more. It was clear the animals are very familiar with people. 

We walked over to the beginning of the trail to Ooh Aah Point and slowly began our decent below the rim. 

If you look really closely you can see Ashlyn’s pink shirt zig-zagging down the side of the cliff. 





After a bit of time we finally made it and was well worth it. We were so proud of the kids. It’s was extremely hot and many adults were turning around before making it down to the point but our little troopers did and back up also. Although, the upward hike was a quite challenging we all did it. 

We had quite a drive ahead of us to the next stop so they nestled in for a late night nap to rest up for the next day.
