One of the first projects of the house was to put up a basketball hoop and dig out an old flag pole. The kids were there along every step of the way for the hoop, right down to making their hand print in the cement. 

Removing the flag pole was another story. Trying to dig out the old cement was challenging. At one point we were the poster children of good habits with Auntie Jewelz holding a chipper, Poppie hitting with a sledgehammer, all the while drinking beer. Needless to say, this method didn’t work. 

The kids did great at swim lessons this year and we all looked forward to walking to them each morning. 

They’ve had a a lot of FaceTiming with friends. 

One raining Saturday morning they got up early and ran in their first race in their new home. 

Luna has visited quite a bit and is finding some of her favorite spots. One of them being the sunroom. When she’s out there Pretzel can’t resist teasing her from the inside. 

A bike ride with Auntie Jewelz led us to a local chocolate and ice cream place for an afternoon snack. 

The last day of swim lesson allowed for some play time while I was discussing their report cards with their instructors. 

It’s become a regular occurrence for the kids to run off with some of their new friends. 

Another regularity is seeing family. Early morning pie creations and afternoon dinner prep is becoming the norm with Nonnie and Poppie. 

Along with some serious grocery shopping with Nonnie. 

Ashlyn got her first Hollyhock doll made for her. 

Yummy homemade pickles came home with us. 

But not before Heath fed the squirrels.

A trip to the beach at Lake Michigan was exactly what our kids needed to cool off on a hot day. The first of many.
