Sunday the Pinewood Derby finally arrived.  Cars were weighed the Thursday before and nerves were tense for the big race but our two racers funneled that energy into some serious focus.

The cars were grouped in sections for initial voting for design prizes.  Steven helped set the track up so we were there a bit early and got to see them calibrating the time clocks.

Look at these handsome cars.

Ashlyn and I left early for a celebratory lunch at American Girl Store with her Daisy Troop for doing so well during cookie season.  The look on her face while we were on the way captures her excitement.

She even had a skip and shanty in her walk as we made our way to the store.

She enjoyed every part of it from walking around the store before hand,

to finding her troop,

to lunch,

and dessert.

Afterwards we did a little window shopping and she experienced for the first time a dressing room with a platform to stand on with 360 mirrors.  Needless to say she didn't want to leave.

Since AGS is at The Grove, we found a cozy grassy area and picnic blanket to relax on while we listened to the band play and she could go through her loot.

Her birthday fell on a Tuesday this year (school night) but she still got to choose whatever she wanted for dinner and she quickly belted out Sushi.  They devoured it.

She even got Happy Birthday sang to her again with ice cream and tempura bananas.

Followed by presents on her actual birthday.  I think it's a fair assumption to say she's bringing in her 6th year with smile.

Meanwhile, the challenges of a home office are becoming difficult now that Pretzel has discovered the mouse on the screen and that not matter how hard she tries, she can't catch it.  So much for an organized desk top.
