Heath's birthday weekend marks the first of many birthdays that he'll be surrounded by family.  For his ninth birthday he wanted a few of his new friends and keep it simple this year.   After some cake and celery experiments in the kitchen they headed outside to play on his new Ninja Line. 

The boys had a hard time getting across it till Lilly did and after they witnessed her do it they finally mustered up the energy to make it. 

 A few more presents and another birthday came and went. 

His fun didn't stop there.  Later that week he had a field trip to the Scholl School.  A one room schoolhouse still standing from the 1800's.  The class dressed in theme and were asked to pack a lunch similar to what they would've eaten then. The kids had such a fun time spending the day there and hearing the lessons their great-great-grandparents would've learned.

 

Later that day we picked up some pumpkins at our schools' Pumpkin Festival where pumpkins and gourds grown in the school's garden are sold as a fundraiser.  The teachers read books to the younger children while the older ones ran around, played, and munched on goodies.

 

 

On the walk home we ran into some friends taking one of the bushels of hay home and lent a hand.  Don't know how much help we were but it finally made it.

The week's temperature dropped significantly the start of school which put a heavy layer of frost on the ground.  It was the heaviest frost the kids have ever seen and didn't take them long to make their mark on it.  It also didn't deter them from riding their bikes to school in the cold.  Something they'll get used to son enough.
