We pulled it off.  For a couple of months now, Courtney, the mom of one of Reghan's besties and I've been planning a surprise road trip and the kids had no idea we were going anywhere, let alone the end destination.  The first stop of the day, after their shock of a trip together faded a little was the Museum of Natural History.

After the dino show, we made our way through the various exhibits with many visits to the Curiosity Carts where they learned all sorts of cool facts about all sorts of animals. 

They found the "outdoor office."

After the museum we stopped for a quick bite to eat by USC and who did we run into outside of one of his stores but, Cory, another one of their close friends' parents.  He runs a number of Coffee Bean and Tea Leafs and made them a "Cory Special" which was totally delish.

Finally we arrived at our final destination of the day, the Legoland Hotel.  After our ears stopped ringing from the screeches once they discovered where we were headed, off we went to explore the hotel's activities.

First up, training to become knighted.

After dinner Heath found a good spot to relax and stretch out his food baby.

Once they found it, we visited the carpeted Whoopee Cushion many many times.  We'll be quoting "ooh you steenky peeg" for quite some time.   

The kids got their own area to sleep with a sign that clearly stated, "no parents allowed" and boy, did they make us live by those words.

After baths they went on a scavenger hunt throughout the hotel so they could find the secret code to unlock the treasure chest in the room.  Inside the chest were lego kits for all the kids.

With the bunk and trundel beds full, they settled in with the tv on till it was lights out time.

After a very antsy breakfast, the kids were losing patience for the park to open.  As soon as it did we were there.  All the figures around the park were so great but certain ones stood out.

Not to mention all the places and staff member you could trade your lego's for.  If you a complete lego person, you can trade them throughout the park for other ones.

This one reminded her of Poppie and her fishing.

Ashlyn couldn't have been more happy to encounter the Lego Friends section.

She's not their type and they drove right past her.

I even made a friend.

The first ride kicked off the day of many more rides.

Yet another princess for Ashlyn to swoon over.

Reghan and Cavanaugh rode most of the rides side by side.

But they had plenty where they all could ride together.

This was one of the first times the kids embraced the live figures.

We spent quite a bit of time in the Star Wars area.

Ashlyn, Steven, and I rode the Carousel and Steven hopped on the-smallest-pony on the ride.  Look at that smile, he's loving it.

She found her Friends again and you'd think they were long time buddies.

From Legoland we walked over to the Sealife Aquarium.

They were happy happy kids.  Tired kids, but happy kids.

The day we were at Legoland happened to be on Heath's birthday so on the way home we stopped for dinner and a birthday celebration.

They devoured their dessert.

And then it was present time.

What an 8th birthday for the most amazing boy we've ever had the pleasure of knowing.  It's going to be quite the year for him.
