Heath had two Lacrosse games on Holy Saturday so before we headed to Nonnie and Poppie's for the holiday we cheered Heath on and it was cold, cold, cold. Although Reghan and Ashlyn were there to cheer him on, they didn't quite see him play since they were cocooned up trying to stay warm.
The obligatory planting of the jelly beans the night before Easter so they can grow overnight into suckers. We also colored eggs the night before and tried some different ways of dying them. "Whip" eggs as they're called were a bit messy, a bit fun, and a bit pretty when finished.
Easter morning, some went to mass, while others streamed it. While streaming it we caught a glimpse of Poppie, Auntie Amy, and Nonnie. We streamed it at home while Auntie Jewlz streamed in in Chicago. We all were together in spirit that morning.Steven and Poppie took on the the grilled ham this year. It was a bit shaky at first...notice the hacksaw? In the end though it was a tasty morsel.
Years ago friends brought a questionable pinata to Easter which has since turned into the yearly "Easter Pinata" tradition. This year we used an ancient pinata Nonnie and Poppie have had hanging in their garage that Auntie Jewlz brought down one year and has hung there ever since. She held up well till she was mangled and left on the burn pile.
