Oh happy football season and our family is ready for it.
Reghan and Heath spent a Friday night at a friends house so Steven and I took Ashlyn out for the night and this girl loves being the center of attention. We giggled, exchanged deep thoughts, and made disgustingly over sugared frozen yogurt cups.
Friends were found at the Santa Barbara Zoo and Heath was thrilled to spend the day with his buddies Cav, Sam, Kenall, and Rohan.

We had our first game of sand volleyball and the kids were quite impressed with our skills. Let's check in on them in about five years to see if they still think we can play with finesse. Afterwards they hit the sand to make "sand angels".
Reghan discovered how good fresh peach pie is and inhaled every morsel she could get a hold of.
We were invited to a fun birthday party for Maddy full of water balloons and cake which Ashlyn and Bea wasted no time with.
Ashlyn got to bring Kelsey the bear home for the first time from school and he came along everywhere with us. To soccer practice, to the park to sketch her, to her first dentist appointment, basically, everywhere.
The kids did so well in swim lessons that they got thrown around a bit.
We went to an exhibit at LACMA called Metropolis II and all three of the kids were enthralled for a solid hour watching the massive installation go and go. There were a lot of oohs and ahs and finger pointing at new discoveries the more they looked at it. Afterwards we went exploring through the rest of the museum.
Some installations they had a difficult getting their heads around...

...and some they just had fun with.
They were certainly happy to spend some time together.
The lamp posts proved to be a great playground as usual.

Not to mention the tube installation.
We can't visit LACMA without walking through some of the Tar Pit grounds and they were so excited to find some tar randomly seeping to the top in the yard.
We thought we got them positioned correctly at the Levitating Mass but obviously not.
Afterwards we stopped by a friends house, Arturo, and had dinner around the corner. The staff had the kids convinced that if they didn't finish their entire plate of food that they would have to stay till they closed to help clean up. That was the policy for children, so they did their best to eat it all. All we heard the entire walk back to the car was how full they were, how their tummies hurt, little burps, and why did they have to eat that much. Till that is they found out it was a joke then they were just mad at the staff and us for fooling them.

Some folks like to run off a big breakfast but these two prefer to roll it off.

Then there's our monkey boy who found other monkey boys at his first baseball practice. Kindred spirits.

And finally announcing the latest player to join the Athletics.
We can't forget our soccer player who was one of the scorer's in a close out against the other team. 6-0 - go Blue Dolphins! She also scared the heck out of the other players when she played goalie.
The kids were very excited when we pulled up and saw their school's mascot welcoming the students one morning.

Lastly we celebrated our anniversary early since we won't see each other on it this year. This is the first year the kids truely understand it and wanted to be a part of it. It was more of a surprise for Steven than anything since he was the only one not in on it but it turned out to be a lovely night. Dinner at the Sunset in Malibu followed by very personalized gifts and a wet sandy ending. It was a good night.
