Mother's day was this past weekend and we did something that we haven't
done since before moving to LA many years ago, we spent the weekend with
my college roommate, Anne, and her family. It was such a delightful weekend and there's something comforting to know that after all these years, we can still effortlessly be around each other for a few days. Practically as long as I've known her, I've known her husband, Brian, and as long as Steven has known me he's known both of them so it was nice. And given that it was her first Mother's day celebrating it as one herself, it was notably special. We spent the weekend in Palm Springs with a day at the spa for us girls and a morning of golf for the boys and it didn't take long for the kids to take over the pool.
Ashlyn liked the pool but she enjoyed her multiple clothing changes even more. This girl knows how to vacation.
Ashlyn and Bea (Anne + Brian's little one) were best girlfriends within minutes with this being a common scene.
Not even Brian was safe from the "jump ins" that went on and on and on and on...
The floors were polished which led to many slippery falls but was prime for the longest child train I've ever seen.
Come morning time the exploration continued with the discovery of sparkly rocks. It felt just like home as there were rock piles and collections all over the house.
We managed to get them out of their swim suits for a short while to stroll through downtown with the highlight of eating frozen yogurt under a massive bougainvillea tree.
Bea was a little confused between the Tigger in her hand and the Tigger in her book.
Then back to the pool for more "jump ins".
While Bea and Wrigley enjoyed the shade.
Some noodle races back and forth and back again,
while Ashlyn and Bea moved on to the ring toss and frisbee.
Bea's just about to turn one and is beginning to walk and it brings back such memories of our kiddies. If you don't see the video, click here: Bea's cruisin'
The final morning the kids watched as Brian pulled all sorts of toys out of the pool with the anticipation of jumping back in before we left.
A final quick jump into the small pool followed by me getting to unwrap some of my Mother's day gifts from the kids before brunch and the drive home.
Even the ride home was enjoyable and ever since then we've heard about how they now want the "house with the pool in the backyard" to be ours. Well kiddo's, you'll just have to wait on that one.
