What an exhausting weekend, fun, but exhausting.  Isn't that the exact opposite of what Mother's Day weekend is supposed to be?  We started out on Saturday by visiting the LA Zoo and this was a very common view of the kids.
                
Ashlyn enjoyed the people watching more than the animals.

Another familiar view as we humped it up the incline to the top where they happily got to ride the Carousel without safety straps, just like the big kids.

Then on to the second half of the day, but leave it up to our children to take more interest in collecting leaves, flowers, and hunting down as much moss as they could find than the actual animals with the goal of finding ice cream or Dippin' Dots on the way out.

 

As if that wasn't enough work for the weekend, we then tackled planting a lemon tree and the relocation of other plants.  With Ashlyn functioning as the foreman, productivity levels were optimal.

The ultimate highlight was when Reghan, single handed, caught a lizard.  As most of our tupperware is in the back yard, she had the larger piece ready to go and then smartly secured it with the truck.

We had dinner with the little girl (Reghan insists it's a girl) before finding the perfect spot to set her free so she could sleep with her family.  (Some of you may remember "Streak" the lizard we caught last year.  We soon discovered that they only last about 1 day before kicking it so dinner and freedom was the route to go with this one).  The mighty lizard catcher is primed and ready to hunt down another one soon.
